Topic Level: Advanced Web Design

The standard file extension for the web pages created by Jade is *.html.  Web design professionals may want to change this to suit the particular design of a website.

Available extensions:

*.asp

*.aspx

*.htm

*.html

*.php

*.shtml

From the Administration menu, select Web Publish Options.
Select Edit Web Design.
From the Edit menu, select Web Options
Open the HTML tab and choose the default extension for HTML pages from the drop-down menu.

Previewing Web Pages that do not have an html/htm extension:

To use Preview in the Web Publisher, your web browser must be set to open files of the type you have created. For files with .htm and .html extensions, no action is required on your part. However, if you have created web pages with other extensions you may have to associate these files with your default web browser.

For example, to always open .asp pages with your web browser:

In the Web Publisher, select Tools > Browse Output Folder.

Select a page with the .asp extension. Right click your mouse over the page and choose Open With.. > Choose Program.

In the 'Open With' window, select your web browser from the list of programs (e.g. Internet Explorer) and select 'Always use this program to open these files'.

To preview the search pages, they need to be on a web server with PHP support.
