By default, the web search is not activated.
To activate search:
| • | From the Administration menu, select Web Publish Options. |
| • | Select Edit Web Design. |
Step one: Edit the Search options
| • | Open the Search tab. |
| • | Select Activate Search. |
| • | Select the fields you want the user to be able to search: Select a Searchable field on the left. Type its label on the right (this is the text that describes the field to your website visitor). |
| • | Edit the sorting options. |
| • | Edit the texts you want to appear on the search pages. |
| • | Edit the filter that selects properties for the web search. (By default, only properties that are marked 'Promote' and are 'For Sale' are included.) |
Step two: Add Search buttons or links
| • | Select Edit > Navigation. |
| • | Select Category Pages > Search. |
| • | On the right, select Search. |
| • | Choose a button image by browsing or, leave the image box blank to use a text link. |
| • | Select Property Pages > Search. |
| • | On the right, select Search. |
| • | Choose a button image by browsing or, leave the image box blank to use a text link. |
| • | Close the Navigation Options window. |
Step Three: Save your Web Design
| • | Select File > Save |
Important Notes:
1. Search only works on a web server. You will not be able to preview Search on your computer but it will work on your website after you have published. If you click the search button when previewing the pages generated by Jade, you will probably see code. This is because your web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) cannot interpret the code on its own. There is software (PHP) on your web host's computer that understands this code.
2. The overall style of the search form and search results page is based on your Category page settings. The overall style of the details page is based on your Property page settings. A professional web designer can customize the search form.
