 Listings table positioning
Just wondering if anyone knows how to get the listings table to display starting at a specific x y coordinates so that I can integrate it with a existing website background image. I would also like to know how to have the website disclaimer do the same. Thanks in advance.

 Possible Answer
Hi Sellwater,
Do you mean search results table? I don't suppose it matters too much anyway as the method can be applied to anything I guess.
I wanted to display my search results adjacent to the search box on my homepage and found the easiest method was inserting an iframe and targeting the iframe with the search results from the search box coding - if that made sense?
The iframe can be inserted to a div and given specific positiioning as required or just thrown onto a layer and dragged in place if you want.
check out my homepage and let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply and helpful info. Yes, I am trying to do something similar to what you have done with your search results. First, let me say that I am not proficient in HTML, so please bear with me as I try to understand. I looked at your source code and saw the iframe where you have the search results displayed. How did you get the iframe to align with your page design, or how did you get it positioned, I didn't see any code that defined its location?

Working together and making the Jade community stronger
Hi Sellwater,
I'm not so proficient at HTML either - my effort has taken 2 months to get this far!!
If you would like to email me - I will strip my website down, remove all the pics and text and just leave you with the basic iframe, containers and divs etc.
You may then be able to understand how it all works from there.

PS Its based on a fluid design whereby whatever size the screen is the webpage will fit (even if you resize it with the mouse from the corner of the window)

 A brief explanation
A lot of the positioning is done via an external css sheet but the basic concept was
All the following placed within Container div (no width or height margins all set to 0)
xxxxxxxxxxxx Header xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Left div (Width 200px Float Left) ---- Main Body (No width but margin 200px from left and 200px from right) ---- Right div (Width 200px Float right)
xxxxxxxxxxxx Footer xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The idea being the left and right columns never vary as they have a set width but the middle will expand or decrease dependant upon the size of the window as its width is set by the margins fixed widths. (I think I did set a minimum width to 800px so that it didn't get all squashed up if someone reduced the window too much!)
Open the website grab your mouse to bottom of browser window and resize

The above link is as much for my benefit as I am trying to improve my Search Engine Optimisation - thanks deidre ;-)

 editor used?
Thanks for the reply's, I am also new to css and am trying to learn. I have done my site design with a WYSIWYG graphic editor for the past 10 years and although it is an easy way to edit the site, it puts me at a disadvantage on the "know how" and "how to" side of things!
Do you use an html editor to manage site design or do you code manually?

A New Beginning a New Horizon and a New Tunnel
Hi Sellwater,
It made me chuckle your last post because I was in exactly the same position in December last year. I had only built one website before and that was using Microsoft Publisher. Which to be fair was fine for what it was and was also pretty much WYSIWYG.
The problems starting coming when after uploading I found out how bloated the HTML coding was and additionally, when I was trying to improve my Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) that was nearly impossible as the body text, the H1's H2's and strong/bold texts were all getting mixed up - it was a bit of a birds nest under the bonnet!
So when I picked up the gauntlet to build this site, much as I may have been tempted to use Publisher again for how easy it was to use I just kept remembering all the problems and and restrictions that came with it so ditched the idea.
I then started Googling, looking for inspiration as to where to start or what to start with.
I had already found Jade and was extremely happy to proceed with that but I needed a program to throw it all together.
It was all very confusing and still is, New Ajax was released, CSS external and internal sheets, PHP, Javavscript, Jquery, HTML, XHTML, Transitional, Strict - jeeez, all I wanted was a program that would help me put a website together - I felt I had stepped through a wormhole and walked into a high tech
environment 10 years ahead of my time!!
In the end I opted for Microsoft Expression 2, It was a huge leap forward for me with regards to learning curve but now 3 months later I am pleased that I made the leap.
In fact every day is still a learning curve but the package does appear to be relatively logical to use and is in my opinion quite a professional package.
With it being a windows program, like most of them I just found the attitude of "Jump In" and start playing was the best method. I had downloaded a couple of PDF books for Expression 2 but that would have taken another couple of months to read.
I also searched on the web for CSS templates of which I downloaded and played with (excellent way to understand working methods).
I'm not sure if the above is of any use to you but it appears you may be considering to walk down the same path I have - If I can help in any way please let me know. Good luck!

Ha, ha! I know what you mean! I start reading over tutorials on html, css, etc. and after a few minutes my eyes start to glaze over!
Right now I'm testing everything on one of my secondary sites and looking into doing an iframe type layout now which may work just fine.

This note is to anyone - taking just 10 minutes to help someone to save hours has got be to good for the Jade community right?
Surely thats why we joined this forum and use this great software.
A pool of knowledge can be a powerful thing!
And the above link is purely for better Search Engine Ranking.
Each time I submit a post in here, my Search Engine Optimisation Software sees the link as does the Googlebot subsequently improving the importance and ranking of the webpage you have just pointed the link to.
